The thesis examines fishing in the region of Primorska with the help of literature and
interviews with seven interlocutors. Fishing as an economic branch is explored from a
theoretical, geographical and historical point of view. The identity of fishermen is
manifested both at a regional and local level and is expressed in folklore, beliefs, cuisine
and as well as taking into account the history of the area. In addition to folklore itself, the
thesis addresses the process of folklorization of fishing and fishermen in addition to their
representation in the media. An important aspect of contemporary fishing is also found in
tourism, which is increasingly intertwined with fishing and seems to follow it into the
future.
