This thesis deals with the digitization of sex work and the OnlyFans platform. In the introductory part, sex work, research on the sex industry, and the impact of digitization on changes within the sex work industry are presented through theory. Next, the thesis focuses on the distinction between the digitization of the sex industry as a process that affects various forms of sex work, and digital sex work as a new variation of sex work that appears because of digitization. The OnlyFans platform is also presented as it has significant influence on the entire sex industry and allows sex workers greater emancipation in their work. In the second part of the thesis, field research on student sex work on the OnlyFans platform is presented; it includes 26 female students from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. Testimonies from the participants indicate a liberal attitude towards sex and the need for flexible work that enables them to earn money. In the field research, it was shown that despite the romantic idea of working on the OnlyFans platform, the participants’ monthly earnings are extremely low when taking into consideration their time invested, and in addition, the payments on the OnlyFans platform also depend on their presence and postings on various social networks.
