The bachelor thesis deals with weeding in Slovenian public libraries with an emphasis on the reuse of weeded materials. Weeding library resources is a process that keeps the library collection up-to-date, useful and in line with the needs of users and the mission of the library. Libraries often face a large number of discarded units that occupy valuable space. We wanted to gain an overview of the current state of weeded materials in Slovenian public libraries, which includes the number of discarded materials, their physical condition, the libraries' awareness of themethods for reusing library materials and their current practice in dealing with weeded materials. A questionnaire was distributed among 60 Slovenian public libraries, of which 23 participated in it. From the obtained results we suggest new ways of reusing weeded materials. The analysis shows that most libraries do not implement methods of reusing materials and are poorly acquainted with them. The formed suggestions for reusing weeded materials define the recommended competencies of the librarian and include a description of the activity, a list of the tools required for it and opportunities for collaboration between the library and the local environment.
