Abstract

Title:Manufacturing and characterization of composed casting from Mg and Zn alloys and salts : diploma work
Abstract:
As part of the diploma thesis, we produced complex composite castings from magnesium and zinc alloys, in which the complex internal macrostructure was created with the help of salt. We used NaCl salt, a precise granulation composition with a high degree of uniformity. For casting, we intended to use the vacuum method of filling the casting cavity, but later it turned out that gravity casting was more successful method. In the first phase, sintering was performed for individual salt granulations in a pre-prepared quartz cell, followed by instrumentation of the casting cavity with a thermocouple and preparation of a flexible tube from the quartz tube to the furnace. The melt was made in an electric furnace, followed by heating the quartz tube (cell) to the desired temperature at which the casting was performed. In this way, we successfully performed the production of investigated composite castings. The application that is possible is related to the production of complex connective, self-degrading elements in the body, which are used for traumatological connections of broken bones. Under similar systems, it is considered that this knowledge would be useful to reduce the recovery time after surgery, and in the case of removal of the connecting elements, no additional intervention would be necessary. The samples obtained by the described technique were metallographically examined by means of optical and / or electron microscopy. We also performed computed tomography (CT).
