The subject of this thesis is the virtue ethics of philosophers Alasdair MacIntyre and Philippa Foot. First, we deal with the crisis that befell virtue ethics in its historical development. We do this to better understand our current situation, in which both authors have as their goal the revival of virtue ethics. We then turn to MacIntyre, who draws on practices, narratives, and tradition to establish his virtue ethics. In the next step, we present the position developed by Foot. It is a virtue ethics based on natural norms. In the last part, we compare both authors. Despite their differences, we will also try to find the origin of both versions of virtue ethics in Nicomachean Ethics.
