Abstract

Title:Metaphysics and Architecture
Abstract:
In the following paper I am going to discuss two aspects of architecture: architecture as an utopia and hope (as it is perceived by german philosopher Ernest Bloch) and architecture as a perfect proportion, which is dedicated to the ancient architecture. First part of the paper is focusing on Bloch's philosophical path and his philosophy of architecture, the buildings that are reflecting a better world. Each era was namely creating its own art, its own rebellion. On the other hand, Hegel was speaking of dreams of the earthly paradise. But dreams of the earthly paradise dissolve when architecture is completely nihilised by capitalism. For that matter, in the second part of the paper, I am going to try and find an answer to the question of what was this special feature of greek spirit, that made the archtecture of complete beauty. Because there, where beauty is, we feel at home. Examing the ancient architecture is necessary, so that we can point out the path we once already walked, but unfortunately forgot.

Keywords:architecture, utopia, the principle of hope, beauty, principles of composition
