In Slovenia, despite long existing legislation on the field of gender equality, equal employment rate and education of people, there is gender income inequality. And here we must mention the problem of pay gap, which is our main research topic. Our main interest was to find out what views and opinions have general populations on the pay gap. Are they aware of the existence of an issue, how they view it and if they had any experience with it? In a paper we wanted to show and point out imperfections in Slovenia, which are the main reasons, which pay gap exists and the situation is not getting any better. The main research question was, what is the opinion of the general population about existence and the reasons behind pay gap in Slovenia. In the first part of the paper, we checked and explained it with the help of the literature. And then we did an online survey, where we were checking what are the views on this problematic from a general population's point of view.
