In the present master's thesis, a study has been conducted on travel habits of the population in the Republic of Slovenia, and the impact fuel costs have on them.
After Slovenia gained independence in 1991, a lot has been done in the field of road infrastructure development. In the line with the development of road infrastructure, the level of motorisation in Slovenia has greatly increased. As a result, increased car use puts a heavy burden on the environment and increases fuel costs.
In the research work, I am researching how fuel costs affect our travel habits, for what purposes and what is bench of fuel cost becoming too high so that people perhaps start using other forms of transportation.
The solution for less car use is reflected in sustainable mobility, i.e. enviromentally friendly forms of movement, e.g. walking, cycling, greate use of public transport.
To achieve this goal, it is necessary to arrange and adjust the existing infrastructure, bring people closer to the use of public transport and thurstry to change people's travel habits, which are now all too closely tied to car use.
