Thematic trails are experiential hiking trails that educate the visitor about a particular topic or are intended for recreation and relaxation. In this thesis we discuss thematic trails as a tourism product in rural areas and the current issue of thematic trails in Slovenia. We analysed thematic trails in the area of the Local action group "Srce Slovenije", which includes six municipalities (Dol pri Ljubljani, Kamnik, Litija, Lukovica, Moravče, Šmartno pri Litiji). Seven thematic trails were included in the analysis: Vegova pot, Javorska energijska pot, Pešpoti v Tuhinjski dolini (Potok–Zgornje Palovče), Vodna učna pot Krašnja, Kostanjeva pot, Po stopinjah pastirjev, and Vegova pot v šolo. We obtained available literature and (tourist) information, analysed their current state through fieldwork, developed a geoinformation application as a visitor tool viewer and made proposals for their management. We found that there is a lack of signposting, digital equipment, promotion, connection to local offers, and interpretive guiding. Depending on the type of thematic trail, we propose activities related to their further development and upgrading of the supporting infrastructure, also from the perspective of the local community needs.
