Abstract

Title:Permafrost melting in Siberia
Abstract:
Permafrost covers a quarter of the land surface of the Northern Hemisphere. Almost 65% of the Siberian forest ecosystems are in the permafrost areas. The changes in the ground structure in connection with permafrost melting have a distinct effect on various other factors. Permafrost melting is connected with global warming. The effect of global warming will exacerbate permafrost melting if the climate warming trends continue in a positive feedback loop. The aim of the Bachelor thesis is to present the permafrost phenomenon, its impacts and consequences of its melting, and to find potential solutions based on the existing literature.
