The master's thesis describes the social status of women in the factories Metka, Cinkarna Celje, Tovarna emajlirane posode EMO, Železarna Štore and LIK Savinja, all located in post-war Celje. The factories, some of which date back to the 19th century, employed a great number of workers, and women represented a high percentage of them. The majority of women worked in the textile mill Metka whereas the iron mill Štore had the lowest number of women employees. The second part of the thesis presents accounts of fifteen workers from the above-mentioned factories, sharing their views on equality after World War II (with the emphasis on factory work), women workers addressed maternity leave and how they balanced factory work and family as well the life in rural and urban areas. They also described their experience with standardised work.
