Abstract

Title:Comedies, written by Slovenian modern female dramatists
Abstract:
Ten comedies, all of them written by female Slovenian modern dramatists, are analized in the master thesis. Three of them are written by Saša Pavček, two by Desa Muck while Iza Strehar, Nika Švab, Kim Komljanec, Jera Ivanc and Simona Semenič each have one of their works represented. Through these I studied which themes were chosen by the authors, their chosen place and setting, the ratio between the main text and stage directions and different types of comedy that compose their works. All of the comedies highlight everyday situations and relations. Nika Švab is the only author that doesn't highlight verbal comedy while physical comedy is the type that is least apparent in all of them. Some authors, such as Desa Muck and Simona Semenič, use elaborate stage directions whereas others, like Nika Švab and Saša Pavček, barely use them. Interpersonal relations is one of the timeless themes that the authors use a lot, though the text of Iza Strehars Vsak glas šteje uses an especially timeless theme – disputes and manipulations in politics.
