The purpose of the diploma thesis is to research and present the connection between globalization and its impact on the labour market in the countries of the European Union. Understanding the mutual influence is key in the market’s adaptation to changes, which in turn enables better economic functioning of countries. To explain this impact, changes by sector in the labour market, aggregate employment by sector, and deficit and surplus occupations in the period of the last wave of globalization will be observed more closely.
Each of us finds ourselves in the labour market at some point, so understanding how it works is important for our integration and functioning in it. For that it is crucial to review the movements in the labour market in the past and the changes that occurred at that time, the current situation, as well as forecasts for the future. The research will use the method of document analysis, which allows looking into the mentioned aspects.
As part of the analysis of the diploma thesis, three hypotheses were set, the area of the labour market and its current situation were investigated as well as its comparison with the past situation on the market. In this thesis we will focus more precisely on the labour market. The thesis concludes that in the last wave of globalization in the field of the labour market, there was an increase in the demand for jobs that require a higher education (the field of information and communication technology) and a decrease in areas with a lower required education (the field of the textile industry). As a result, the level of educational attainment among residents of European Union countries has risen.
The results of the thesis help us understand the functioning of the labour market and enable the possibility of predicting its state in the future. They can be used for entering the labour market as well as adapting to it.
