Abstract

Title:Connecting nature and human through unique jewelry
Abstract:
The thesis explores the connection between nature and humans represented through the artistic creation of jewelry. The connection is based on the inspiration we find in the natural environment and how we can apply it to a work of art. I support the theory by referencing artists that inspired me not only with their work but also with their design concepts and the ideas that hide behind them. Jewelry, the focus point of this thesis, is presented as an object with sentimental value and affects the wearer as well as how society views us.In the second part of my thesis, I designed body jewelry that represents my examination of nature's shapes, textures, and colors. I then upgraded this with the idea of coexistence indicated by the form of the work. My exploration is expressed with ceramics, more specifically porcelain, whose characteristics represent brittleness and lightness, aspects I also perceived in nature. The jewelry is made from several pieces that cover the torso and is systematically placed so that it sits on the body independently and represents the growth of something living.
