The focus of this thesis is Roma’s enforcement of their rights before United Nations’ treaty-based mechanisms. The process of enforcing violations of human rights enshrined in treaties is illustrated through an analysis of individual complaints submitted by Roma. This thesis’s hypothesis is that Roma’s individual enforcement of the violations of their rights before United Nation’s treaty-based mechanisms is hampered. By means of research and a study of individual complaints, I found out which provisions of human rights treaties were violated in those cases, how such violations can be enforced, and what are Roma’s living conditions.
