Unlike the traditional economics, which in the center places land, business buildings and infrastructure, »the knowledge economy« focuses on intellectual capital. One of the main ones would be the property of intellectual capital is its intangibility, which causes problems with definition and measurement. The knowledge economy is dependent on the skilled workforce – which is able to implement knowledge for encouraged innovation.
The purpose of the thesis is to present the influence of intangible capital on economic growth. In writing the thesis, I helped myself with the data from the field of investment ativities, which are published on the EIB website. Based on the analysis I have come to find that the share of the investment into intangible assets over time increases. The largest share of investments in intangibles funds is significant for the states, which have more GDP per capita. The analysis showed that investments in intangible assets can be a keeper of values in a time of economics crisis. In the some countries, the pandemic has caused rapid transition from traditional economy to economy of knowledge. It seems that in the future to be in the foregroung investments in intangible capital will also decrease the importance of physical capital.
