The aim of the thesis is to compare the family in contemporary Slovenian novel Prišleki with the foregin novel In v gorah odzvanja. I briefly outlined the lives of the authors; Lojze Kovačič and Khaled Hosseini, presented a conmteporary Slovenian novel and the notion of the family in the Middle Ages and modern society. A key part of the thesis is the comparison of families where I showed the relationship between parents, siblings, children and parents, children's confrontation with the death of their parents and the lifestyle of families.
