Water is life. It covers 71 % of the Earth’s surface and is a home for over two million animal and plant species. That is why it is important to clean our wastewater, industrial as well as municipal. In this thesis, we will present the transformation of the old water aeration system into a new water aeration system in a cardboard factory. Aeration is very important for the bacteria that live in the aeration basins and whose job is to clean the wastewater.
The thesis will consist of three parts that guide us through the entire project. In the first part, we will present the programming of the PLC using PCS 7 and the Simatic Manager software environments. The second part covers a complex communication between PLC and compressors, for which it was necessary to write a program for a new communication driver. In the third part, we will deal with the SCADA system, presentation of its screens, configuration of the elements, and finally we will show how the operator can influence the process from the SCADA system.
Revamp of the existent aeration system, after the programming and configuration of all devices, will represent an example of an automated system that will allow operators to control and manage system. Through the thesis, we will go over all the steps that were necessary to automate the aeration process.
