Abstract

Title:Design of device for the high pressure removal of metal oxides on the surface of hot rolled steel
Abstract:
The work deals with the issue of maintenance and control of a device for high-pressure removal of oxides from the surface of hot-rolled steel. The study consists of observing the traces of water jets, evaluating the cleaning effect of the current device using an IR and high-speed camera, and a proposed solution for its improvement. The results of the measurements showed that the current settings remove the oxides acceptably, but the device does not operate reliably. IR thermography has proven to be a suitable method for real-time monitoring of the quality of the scale removal. To address these issues, we designed a 3D model of the device with an updated housing, lifting mechanism, and wear protection that we believe will eliminate the existing problems.
