Abstract
Diplomsko delo opisuje optimizacijo postopkov končne obdelave v procesu pridobivanja pigmenta TiO2. Obravnaval bom anorgansko in organsko površinsko obdelavo, kjer se definirajo aplikativne lastnosti pigmenta. Učinkovitost stabilizacije bom določeval z nadzorom velikosti delcev oziroma njihove porazdelitve velikosti, določanjem specifične površine delcev in efektivnosti sipanja svetlobe ter z uporabo elektronske mikroskopije (SEM).

Title:Production of special types of TiO2 pigment – influence of synthesis conditions on process and quality parameters
Abstract:
Thesis describes the optimization of finishing procedures in the process of obtaining TiO2 pigment. I will discuss inorganic and organic surface treatment, where the application properties of the pigment are defined. In inorganic treatment, hydrated oxides of aluminium, silicon, zirconium, and phosphorus precipitate on the dispersed TiO2 particles. I will monitor the change in surface morphology of particles after treatment with various hydroxides using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In organic processing, we adjust the surface of the pigment with various modifiers so that it will be as compatible as possible with the medium into which it enters. In my diploma thesis I will also study the suitability of the use of various surfactants for soaking and stabilization of TiO2 particles. I will determine the stabilization efficiency by controlling the particle size or their size distribution, determining the specific surface area of the particles and the light scattering efficiency, and using electron microscopy (SEM). I will test the properties of pigments in end applications such as paper laminate or printing inks.
