In my dissertation, I explored the collaboration between the Center for Mental Health for Adults and users, that are involved in community psychiatric treatment. I wanted to explore the lives of users living in the community, with the support of the Center for Mental Health, which runs through the services they provide. In my dissertation, I first described the process of deinstitutionalization, and thus also community services and community care. I then presented the lives of users in their home environment. Within this, I focused on mental health, living in a home environment and home care, stigmatizing people with mental health problems and their families, as well as relatives and, in this connection, the independence of users. In the following, I described the Center for Mental Health, the composition and operation of the Center for Mental Health of Adults and the Center for Mental Health of Adults Ormož. Then I presented the work of the Center for Adult Mental Health in the community, within which I focused on the crisis situations experienced by users and the methods of work used in working with users within the Center for Mental Health. Within this topic, I described the community psychiatric treatment in which the work of the Center in the community takes place. In the end, I looked at the role and connection that social work has with the Center for Adult Mental Health, and as part of this, I finally described the recovery process.
In the empirical part, I worked with the interviewees on five main topics related to the inclusion in the Mental Health Center, the operation of the Adult Mental Health Center, the experience of users with this service, the life situation in which users find themselves and user experiences with institutions and comparing them with the work of the Center for Mental Health. I obtained various data from my interviewees, on the basis of which I concluded that the Mental Health Center is important for their stay in the community due to the services it provides.
