Abstract

Title:Improvement of the preparation time on a drilling centre NV
Abstract:
Due to market demands and situation rapidly changing the company must focus its efforts into higher flexibility and productivity of the production, reducing waste and satisfying the end customer’s needs. All of this can be achieved using the lean way of thinking and its methods such as SMED and 5S, which we conducted using the prescribed steps on a selected machine in the company. SMED method yielded shortening of the changeover by 53,3 % of the original time and shortening of the walking distance when performing the changeover by 73,5 % of the original distance, while the 5S method yielded a more organized and cleaner workplace which contributes not only to increased productivity but also to increased safety.
