Unwanted vibrations of mechanical systems are among the most studied problems in engineering. When passive methods are not sufficient, we resort to active control methods. In this thesis, the development of such an active system using a PID controller and a bidirectional solenoid actuator is presented. In this scope, the equations of motion for the selected system are derived, and a numerical model is designed using the Python ecosystem. The design process of the electrical circuit, used to drive the bidirectional solenoid is shown. Using the numerical model, a study of the system parameters was conducted and limitations regarding applied force were shown. The process of building and testing of the physical circuit and solenoid is also presented.
