Abstract
Diplomski seminar obravnava slovenska narečja, natančneje kraško in tolminsko narečje.

Title:Slovenian dialects: an overview and comparison of the Karst and Tolmin dialects with an emphasis on vocabulary and phonetics
Abstract:
The bachelor thesis discusses Slovenian dialects, specifically the Karst and the Tolmin dialect. The branch of linguistics that deals with dialect and local speeches is called dialectology and is important because in Slovenia dialects are the foundation upon which the standard language is built. They have a centuries-long development with different influences from different factors, among which are also important historical events that happened in the regions where specific dialects are spoken. The Tolmin and the Karst dialects gained a lot of interesting characteristics throughout their development, among which some differ and some resemble each other or are the same. The purpose of this thesis is to present these two dialects in connection with the development of dialects and dialectology and their comparison to each other on the basis of certain characteristics. Two speakers – one of the Tolmin and one of the Karst dialect – were chosen for the research part, specifically for an interview, which was carried out with the intention of examining the current situation in both dialects and comparing them to each other.
