As technology advances, drones are being used in more and more areas, mainly because of their low cost and ease of use. As elsewhere, their use is increasing in the film industry, displacing the use of helicopters, which have been key in this field. For comparison between drones and helicopters, I chose research work. I explored the pros and cons of using drones and helicopters based on law, cost, performance, equipment and hazards, as these are topics that could influence the choice between using one or the other aerial filming technique. It has been established that the full exclusion of the helicopters will not take place yet. Helicopters will continue to be used for a long time to film challenging scenes, such as car chases, aerial feats or high-altitude hill climbing, thanks to their capabilities, despite their enormous cost. In the meantime, drones will dominate mainly in the field of filming less demanding scenes and scenes with very limited space.
