Naslov:Conduct of Social Work Centers in cases of violence against women
Izvleček:
This thesis focuses on the activities of social work professionals during support services for victims of violence against women. Social work professionals are obliged to follow the legislative framework and recommendations for work, but they are still autonomous in providing psychosocial support to victims of violence. In the theoretical part I focused on defining violence, on the feminist approach in the field of social work and the principle of intersection. I researched the approaches of some countries and statistics of violence in Slovenia. Through interviews, I discovered the forms of support that are available in different environments, the work process and differences in the way of working between individual centres for social work. I was mainly interested in whether there are differences between urban and rural areas. I have found that there are differences between the centre for social work units. Smaller units of centres for social work that are as a rule located in rural areas are more associated with the local community and cooperation among employees within such unit is better, as is cooperation with other institutions. Main weakness of rural areas is that some of the centre for social work service users live further away from services and do not have access to them. There is also a lack of housing units and there are no counseling centres for victims of violence in Slovenj Gradec. In environments where employees know the families they work with there is more prejudice as well. Victims of violence are still viewed by many professionals and society as a homogeneous group with special charcteristics. I have found that victims of violence are very diverse individuals who do not have the same symbolic and social status. The group of older women, Romani women, people with disabilities, people with mental health problems and foreigners without status is only a part of the crowd that is repeatedly discriminated against. The results of my research demonstrated that long-term and comprehensive support for victims of violence is essential for victims to be able to leave the perpetrator. Through interviews with professionals and employees employed at centres for social work I researched what changes employees wish to come true to be able to support women with experience of violence more comprehensively. Employees reported that they needed more professional staff and more emotional support from colleagues and management. There was also a need for regular coaching expressed. Finally, I was also interested in how the epidemic affected the work of professionals and the occurrence of violence.I found that there was no significant increase in reports of violence but that does not prove that there was less violence. Professionals adapted the work to the situation and emphasized the possibility of twenty-four hour support for victims of violence. Some changes like scheduling appointments for service users have been preserved to this day.
