This master's thesis deals with the pronunciation of the Spanish language and some of its variants. It analyses the Spanish language variants from six Spanish-speaking countries, namely Spain, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, Cuba and Colombia. The theoretical introduction describes the general features of Spanish phonetics and phonology, based on the theories of well-known Spanish linguists such as Antonio Quilis (1999), Juana Gil Fernández (1995, 2017) and others. The second part of the thesis includes a description of the characteristics of the Spanish versions of the six selected countries and an analysis of the recordings of the read translations of the fairy tale Zvezdica Zaspanka (Estrellita Dormilona). The fairy tale was read by native speakers of the mentioned countries. The last part is a comparison of the results of the analyses carried out, which reveals that the Spanish language preserves many uniformities in the way of pronunciation throughout the world, but that there are different possibilities of realizations in the way of pronouncing certain voices in different positions of the speech chain. There are also different influences from historical development, contact with other languages, especially indigenous languages, the environment itself and other factors.
