Alojzija Štebi was one of the most important interwar Slovenian feminists but also one of the most active Yugoslav activists. In the paper I will focus on her activities in the Yugoslav Women’s Movement and her theoretical writings on feminism in the journal Ženski pokret. Alojzija Štebi was in the interwar period one of the few women who in Yugoslav state administration reached a very high position and an intellectual, who supplemented her work (especially in social policy) with the engagement in shaping the politics of the Yugoslav Women’s Movement. She developed different political and sociological policy concepts with which she wanted to influence shaping of the official governmental politics. After her relocation to Belgrade, she was absent from Slovene associations and became one of the editors of Ženski pokret, where she published her articles in the past as well (as of 1921). During her Belgrade period, she upgraded her theoretical points of view in the context of social question (social work and reform movement) and motherhood. With regard to the latter, she had a long discussion with another prominent feminist Julko Hlapec Đorđević. She was among the reformers of the Yugoslav Women’s Council who reorganized it on the basis of banovina’s council. In the work and writings of A. Štebi, we can trace many (including theoretical) turning points.
