Glued-in rods technique has been developed in the last three decades for connections in timber structures, but there are still several problems and limitations with its use. In spite of many efforts in the past, standards that would allow safety design do not exist. Available recommendations are more or less accurate. For many years, researchers have been trying to upgrade their knowledge to provide the information required for standards, which would allow more reliable, more accurate and safer design of glued-in rods. This paper represents the fundamental factors, which have the main influence on short-term performance of glued-in rods.
