Abstract

Title:Production of orthopaedic insole in patient whit congenital equinovarus : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Congenital talipes equinovarus is one of the most common congenital foot deformities. It is present at birth and in many cases the child is otherwise healthy. Around one in every thousand babies is born with such foot deformity. In case the disease is not properly treated it can cause severe damage and deformity of the foot with accompanying limping and pain. Treatment of the disease can be surgical or conservative in case that the deformity is diagnosed at the birth. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to describe the deformity, review the literature in this field and in the part of empirical work, based on a case study, describe the case of a person with congenital talipes equinovarus after surgical treatment.Describe and perform the procedure of examining the patient, taking measurements, processing the model and making an individual orthopedic insole for the patient. Methods: In the process of making an individual orthopedic insole, we first examined the patient by analyzing the walk and measuring foot pressure and also taking a measure, which took place in the outpatient premises of the company Ortopedski inžiniring Maribor in Ljubljana. and prosthetics at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. Results: In the results, we presented obtained results and findings during the examination of the patient and described the change in the pattern of walking using individually made orthopedic insoles. We also compared foot pressures without the use of orthopedic insoles and with the use of orthopedic insoles and presented them graphically. Discussion and conclusion: In measurements with the first pair of orthopedic insoles, we found that in the left foot, the total of all three points increased with the greatest pressure. In the measurements with the second pair of orthopedic insoles, we successfully reduced the total sum of all three points with the highest pressure on both feet. By reducing the foot pressure on the most stressed parts of the foot and establishing a more correct walking pattern, we have to some extent reduced the patient's problems resulting from congenital deformity and thus improved his quality of life.
