This paper introduces writings dedicated to children that appeared in Catholic periodicals in the Prekmurje region before World War II. It focuses in particular on the only periodical intended for children, the monthly Marijikin ograček (Mary's Garden) (1932-1940), which included much content in the Prekmurje language (e.g. children's news, popular articles, jokes, anecdotes, various puzzles - rebuses, maze puzzles, calls for applications, advertisements, etc. The paper includes several references to the monthly Marijin list (Mary's Paper), of which Marijikin ograček (Mary's garden) was a supplement. The paper outlines the editorial concept of Jožef Klekl Sr., who addressed young readers (also) through nonfiction content and the visual image.
