This article presents selected literary works of the Slovene writer Lucija Stepančič with particular attention to the importance and role of speech for narration, narrative flow, characterisation of literary characters and identifying with the characters. It also points out the importance of internal monologue (quoted and self-quoted monologue) and stream of consciousness in selected literary works.
