Abstract

Abstract:
Dialects and sociolects are often attributed social meanings that are not based on objective judgments, but on the establishment of arbitrary links between individual language elements or entire language variants and the social status and characteristics of their speakers. In Slovene spoken media, such stereotyped images are used in particular in entertainment and advertising, but not necessarily only there. In the article, I shall also consider where the boundaries of such media representations are or should be.
