Stress and accentuation in Slovene can occasionally be unpredictable and is not bound to a specific syllable but is acquired along with the word. Rigler (1968) notes that the problem of accentuation and stress is one of the most important in Slovene orthoepy. The purpose of this article is to show some of the accent features of nouns and adjectives in the contemporary standard pronunciation. The research focused on adjectival derivatives with the -(ij)ski suffix and nouns that have two possibilities of accentuation. Among the speakers of the Littoral dialect group, a survey was conducted in which respondents read individual sentences and nouns and adjectives used in neutral clause positions were noted. Nouns and adjectives that have two possibilities of accentuation and adjectives with the -(ij)ski suffix that had a mobile and those that had an immobile accentuation type were analysed. The results of the survey were compared to the Dictionary of Slovenian Language (2014), the dictionary part of the Slovene Grammar (2014), and the Slovenian standard pronunciation (Šeruga Prek, Antončič 2003).
