Occupational and organizational psychology is a branch of applied psychology that applies its findings to the workplace. Organizational psychologists carry out a wide range of work tasks - from those related to the recruitment process to those related to the well-being of employees at work. Not much research has been done in Slovenia that examines the work of occupational and organizational psychologists or the competences they need for their work, so the purpose of this research was to explore this. In the first part of the research, a semi-structured interview was conducted with eight psychologists, and in the second part of the research, a questionnaire on competences and job tasks was sent to organizational psychologists. It was completed in full by 36 psychologists. The results show that organizational psychologists in Slovenia most often provide feedback, advise managers, develop communication, assess satisfaction, organise training and are part of the recruitment process. Their work requires all the competences identified in the EuroPsy competency model, which they rate as highly developed. They consider the competence in marketing and sales to be the least developed. They see the broad range of knowledge that psychologists can use in their work as the main advantage of their profession, and their lack of knowledge of business processes and labour law as the main disadvantage. Participants have a unanimous opinion on the future of the profession of organisational psychologist in Slovenia. They are optimistic.
