This paper presents the poetry of social criticism, a growing phenomenon in the literature of post-transitional Slovenia. It begins by sketching its thematic traits, literary procedures, coexisting social discourses and the hybrid nature of texts, then proceeds to describe the poetry of Iztok Osojnik, Esad Babačić, Vinko Möderndorfer, Taja Kramberger and Nataša Velikonja. The analysis is focused on personal experience of social reality and on ways of constructing the speaking subject.
