Abstract
The MA thesis researches and analyzes the production of English monophthongs by Slovene primary school and grammar school students. To examine the most typical errors, a study with twelve participants, six primary school students and six grammar school students, is conducted. The errors of each student are first analyzed individually, and then the overall results of the two groups are compared to see if there are any noticeable differences between the two groups. The findings mostly confirm the predictions of the existing literature on the most typical pronunciation errors of Slovene speakers of English. The study also shows which pronunciation errors are most problematic for the speakers in question, and points to only small differences between the pronunciation of primary and secondary school students.

Title:Produkcija angleških enoglasnikov: primerjava osnovnošolcev in gimnazijcev
Abstract:
Magistrsko delo razišče in analizira izgovarjavo angleških enoglasnikov pri slovenskih osnovnošolcih in gimnazijcih. Izvedena je študija z dvanajstimi udeleženci (šest osnovnošolcev in šest gimnazijcev), ki ugotavlja napake pri izgovorjavi. Napake vsakega udeleženca so najprej analizirane posamezno, sledi pa primerjava skupnih rezultatov obeh skupin, s katero ugotavljamo, ali se pojavljajo opazne razlike med uspešnostjo obeh skupin. Rezultati študije večinoma potrdijo zaključke drugih avtorjev o najbolj pogostih napakah pri izgovarjavi slovenskih govorcev angleščine. Študija tudi pokaže, katere napake pri izgovorjavi so najbolj problematične pri obravnavanih govorcih, in opozori na le majhne razlike med izgovorjavo osnovnošolcev in gimnazijcev.
