The purpose of the thesis was to produce two commercial product photographs using the technique of 360° photography. In addition, we studied the methods and researched the field of 360-degree photography and documented the entire production process from start to finish.
In the theoretical part, we first explored the field of 360-degree photography, as well as more detailed ways of capturing good product photographs. We focused on all the factors we need to avoid in order to achieve the desired results. These are important when it comes to lighting, and play an important role in studio photography in general.
The experimental part of the thesis covers everything from the preparation of the photo studio to the capture and optimal postproduction of the photographs. The products were illuminated with LED lights, which allow us to manually change the colour temperature and the intensity of the emitted light. We shot the photos in high-key mode, starting from a very bright environment. We also paid attention to the studio conditions and the set-up of the scene in order to achieve optimal lighting of the models and to capture satisfactory product shots at this stage of the experimental work. This simplified the post-production process. We processed the batches of photos, ensuring that all the photos were edited in the same way during the processing phase to ensure a uniform look.
To make it easier to visualize, we have also put the final series of 360-degree photos into an online environment. We provide a commentary of the results at the end of the thesis.
