In my dissertation, I present the war monuments created in the area of the Isonzo front during the First World War. With the help of resources and literature, both professional and those written by amateur experts on the events on the Isonzo front, I present the war memorials created in memory of the fallen soldiers and in honour of the generals and military units that fought in the area. I am focusing in particular on those that reflect nationalism through dedicatory inscriptions and other decorative elements. In the continuation of the thesis, I present what happened to war monuments and cemeteries during the Italian rule, then during Yugoslavia, and finally during the era of Slovenian independence.
