Manufacturing of transformers used in the power distribution industry requires complete tightness of housings, which is checked using a helium leak detector. Prior to this, the housings must be evacuated to remove all atmospheric gases and impurities. In this thesis, we presented the development and construction of a vacuum pumping station used to evacuate large vacuum chambers. We presented the basics of vacuum technology and components used to manufacture the system. The main focus was on the automation of vacuum pumps, and pressure monitoring of chambers during vacuum pumping. In the end, we tested the operation of vacuum pumps and analyzed the efficiency of the water contamination detection system.
