The thesis examines and analyses the social and spatial transformation of the quarter Krakovo in Ljubljana. In the thesis, I tried to find out what kind of social and spatial transformation has been going on in the quarter for the last decade and which factors or processes promote it. For that purpose, I reviewed the literature on urban geography and sociology. I focused especially on the contemporary processes of urban transformation in (neoliberal) cities. They are influenced by local factors, and I particularly pointed out the ones happening in Ljubljana. With fieldwork I collected the current data on the processes in Krakovo, which used to be famous for its gardens in the past. I made a survey, interviewed the local population, and mapped the economic activities. From the collected data I concluded that highly educated people have been immigrating to Krakovo in the last decade. Gardens got abandoned and new activities are present in the area now. I indicated signs of gentrification and touristification. The biggest problem is collecting demographic data and information about renovations. So, there are still plenty of topics left to do research on in Krakovo.
