Abstract

Title:The Slovenian Artistic and Literary Legacy of the Concentration Camps: Art or Historical Document
Abstract:
This master's thesis, entitled The Slovenian Artistic and Literary Legacy of the Concentration Camps. Art or Historical Document deals with the visual arts and literature during the Second World War. More specifically, with the works created by the Slovenian artists in concentration camps, or with their later creations based on their own experiences with these harsh living conditions. I begin the master's thesis with a brief introduction to the concentration camps of the World War II era and then focus on the Slovenian visual arts and literary legacy of the concentration camps, concentrating on their most important representatives. In doing so, I highlight three important protagonists of each art genre. In the final part, I bring together the visual arts and literature from the period of the concentration camps studied, define my point of view on the relationship between art and historical document, and highlight other important findings of this master's thesis.
