Magistrsko delo Ikona v internacionalni belini temelji na raziskovanju pogojev, ki konstruirajo vrednost umetniških del. Slikarstvo z vidika simbolne in tržne vrednosti v primerjavi z ostalimi umetniškimi zvrstmi zaradi specifičnih intelektualnih, zgodovinskih, materialnih in ekonomskih razlogov še vedno ohranja dominanten položaj. Razlog za visoke cene umetniških del ni vsota stroškov dela in materiala. Njihovo vrednost določajo družbeni odnosi, ki niso posledica srečnega naključja, temveč strateškega načrtovanja.

Abstract

The master's thesis The Icon in International Whiteness is based on the research of conditions that construct the value of artworks. In comparison to other art forms, painting still holds the dominant position regarding symbolic and market value, due to specific intellectual, historical, material, and economic reasons. The high prices of artworks do not result from the sum of labor and material costs. Their value is determined by social relations that are not a consequence of happy coincidence but strategic planning.
