Abstract
Dandanes so polikristalno diamantna ali krajše PKD orodja vse bolj prisotna v industriji. So vsesplošno uporabna, z njimi lahko obdelujemo različne materiale, razen jekla. Ponujajo visoko obdelovalnost in dolgo obstojnost. Do pred nekaj let, so PKD orodja v večini izdelovali s postopkom žične elektroerozije in brušenjem. Zadnja leta so se na trgu pojavili laserski stroji, narejeni specifično za obdelavo te vrste orodij. Omogočajo širši nabor obdelav oziroma izdelave več vrst orodij in omogočajo izdelavo rezilnega robu višje kakovosti. Laserski stroji so v primerjavi z žično elektroerozijskimi stroji mnogo dražji, zato je cilj tega diplomskega dela, izdelati rezilni rob rezalnega orodja z žično elektroerozijo, katerega kakovost bi bila primerljiva tistemu izdelanemu z laserskim rezanjem. Ugotovljeno je bilo, da to žal v celoti ni mogoče. Izpolnili smo cilj za izdelavo zaokroženosti rezilnega robu in določili bolj ekonomične obdelovalne parametre za izdelavo PKD orodij.

Title:Machining of the cutting edge on the cutting tool by wire EDM
Abstract:
Nowdays the polycrystalline diamond tools or shorter PCD tools are every day, more present in the industry. It can be used on many different application in industry. We can machine a lot of different materials with them, except steel. They give us high machinability and long durability. Until few years ago, PKD tools have mostly been manufactured by wire EDM and grinding. In recent years, laser machines designed specifically for manufacturing this type of tools, appeared on the market. They allow us to produce wider range of different cutting tools and enable the production of higher quality cutting edge of the cutting tool. Laser machines are much more expensive than wire EDM machines, so the goal of this thesis is to make a cutting edge of a cutting tool with wire EDM that has quality comparable to the cutting edge, made with laser machine. Unfortunately, we didn’t get all the desired results. We improve the roundness of cutting edge and determined more economical machining parameters for producing PCD cutting tools, with wire EDM machine.
