The (final) dissertation reveals the reasons for the feminist fight in Saudi Arabia to achieve equal rights for women in society. The mixture of traditional and conservative consciousness and ideology strongly influences the position of women, who have been disadvantaged in the spheres of social activity for a long time. The long-lasting struggle for change is the product of the activation of feminists who have had enough of the unequal treatment, discrimination and deprivation in society on a daily basis. In addition to the basic explanations of feminism and Islam, this dissertation meaningfully connects the two concepts and applies them to Eastern Saudi Arabia, where drastic changes have taken place in favor of women. With the help of the latest wave of feminism, the situation of women in Saudi Arabia has improved and allows more freedom in their everyday decisions.
