The final seminar paper explores the work of the German-Slovenian curator, Gregor Podnar, in the
period 1996-2003, when he designed the exhibition program of the Škuc Gallery as the artistic
director.
Through an analytical treatment of the five selected exhibitions he curated at the time, the paper
shows how he developed into an artistic director as well as a curator and gallerist.
It places Podnar's development in the national art system, when the role of a curator is established,
it outlines cultural events in independent Slovenia and presents the work of the Škuc Gallery,
including a short history of its artistic directors and the specifics of the gallery space.
