The aim of this master's thesis is to research the recognizability of the municipality of Gorenja vas - Poljane as a tourist destination and whether tourism in the municipality is identified as a possibility for further development of the geographic area. Based on existing expert sources, an interview at the Institute for tourism and culture Poljanska dolina (Zavod za turizem in kulturo Poljanska dolina) and a survey among tourist providers and potential tourists, the thesis concludes that the municipality of Gorenja vas - Poljane is a partially established tourist destination and at the same time tourism is also partially recognized as a development opportunity of the municipality. The development of tourism could facilitate progress, especially in advertising and promoting the municipality throughout Slovenia. The main goal is to develop boutique tourism and to preserve the authenticity and environment for future generations.
