Abstract
S tvorbo por v celični membrani tarčne bakterije zavirajo njihovo rast in razvoj, zmožni so preprečevanja izgradnje biofilmov ter razgradnje že obstoječih biofilmov. V nekaterih primerih so poročali celo o sinergističnem učinkovanju bakteriocinov in antibiotikov.

Title:
Use of bacteriocins of lactic acid bacteria in the treatment of infections
Abstract:
Antibiotics are considered one of the most important discoveries in medicine and have been used to fight against bacterial infections for decades. Their too frequent use began to limit their effectiveness because certain bacteria have developed antibiotic resistance. The need for alternative methods of treating bacterial infections is growing. One of the best alternative options is bacteriocins of lactic acid bacteria. Bacteriocins are antimicrobial substances of a protein nature, synthesized on the ribosomes of some bacteria and usually act against related bacterial species. Studies of bacteriocins have shown that they have numerous mechanisms of antibacterial action. They inhibit the growth and development of pathogens by forming pores in the cell membrane and can prevent the formation of biofilms or even degradation of already existing biofilms. The synergistic use of bacteria and antibiotics has been reported in some cases. The use of bacteriocins is a promising new approach in the therapeutic treatment of inflammatory diseases. It seems to be a key strategy to combat resistant pathogenic bacteria combined with antibiotics.
