The main purpose of the master's thesis was to address the issues concerning Bled Cross-Country Ski Club and to offer an analytical review of the Club's work so far . Due to its location, the Club is important for the future of Slovenian cross-country skiing and biathlon. Bled Cross-Country Ski Club (BCCSC) has a rich history and great opportunities for further high-quality development, given the fact that Triglav Pokljuka Sports Center, a modern biathlon and cross-country skiing complex is located in its immediate vicinity.
An analytical review was conducted on the current state of BCCSC. We wanted to highlight both the advantages and disadvantages of the Club and efficiently analyse them. Based on the analysis, we prepared examples of the envisioned club's development, taking into account all necessary organizational and professional factors that are important for further development (club financing, management, organization of competitions and events, coaching staff, selection and guidance of competitors, training process etc.).
This is a thesis that uses a descriptive research method. We used information obtained from domestic as well as foreign sources, and also included information of informal nature. The thesis is based on author's experiences, as well as experiences of indivduals, strongly connected to BCCSC.
The thesis is practically applicable, offering a vision of the future development of cross-country skiing and biathlon in this environment based on the analysis of the current Club's operation. The model of the future Club's development could potentially help other Slovenian clubs, given the fact that the Nordic World Ski Championship will be hosted in Planica 2023.
In order to ensure successful development of BCCSC Bled, it is necessary to atract new supportive and active members to the Club, as well as young competitors. Providing additional financial resources through commercial earnings, organized and carried out by BCCSC, is crucial as well. In addition, it is important to cooperate with the local environment in order for cross-country skiing to gain popularity as a recreational and tourist activity.
