Introduction: Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world. Its high demands are also the reason for higher number of injuries. Preventive programmes help with reducing and preventing injuries. Programmes include different exercises and also define duration and frequency of training. Past researches already confirm the efficiency of some preventive programmes, but the number of programmes is low or their efficiency is yet to be proven. Purpose: Present effective basketball related injury prevention programmes based on literature review. Methods: Literature review of randomized controlled trials in English language, published between 2010 and 2021, obtained from PubMed database. Results: Eight articles were included in the analysis. Used injury prevention programmes were neuromuscular training, warm-up, improving jump and landing technique, use of ankle brace, proprioceptive training and motor learning strategies. Eight researches report positive results – preventive programmes are efficient and adequate for use. Discussion and conclusion: Results indicate positive and reasonable use of preventive programmes in basketball. They are effective in reducing number of injuries, improving body control and reducing injury risk factor. Programmes need to be performed consistently and the chosen program needs to be suitable for the whole team.
